Storysmash – A Story in a Game, The Event!


Friday the 23rd February saw the Storysmash Celebration event take place at Nottingham Conference Centre. With over 100 people attending the event, Nottingham City Libraries, The National Videogame Arcade and Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature were proud to welcome:

Kim Slater (aaward-winning author ward-winning writer of SMART)
Explored how to structure a story, plan a narrative and develop compelling characters

Jeff Noon (award-winning British cult novelist of Vurt, short story writer and playwright)
Discussed experimental writing and collaborating with other writers.

Panya Banjoko (outstanding performance poet)
Talked about Crafting a poem and developing performance skills in a practical session.

Stuart Hill (award-winning author of historical fantasy novels for young adults)
Talked about creating a story and chatted about his experiences on the long and rocky road to publication.

Tony White (author of novels including “The Fountain in the Forest” and “Foxy-T”)
Attendees found out about Tony’s diverse writing career and collaboration process with groundbreaking artists group, Blast Theory on Zombies Ate My Library.

Dean Wilkinson (master of comedy writing)
Took people through the process of creating characters as well as discussing his career.

Storysmash were also extremely happy to host the brilliant “Altered Sky” who performed “Imagine Adventure” and “Where I Belong”, but if you missed it, or want to see the videos again….
